Passo Tonale: 2025 Inspection Visit - Day One

The morning began with the hotel Piandineve’s brilliant breakfast buffet. Eggs, bacon, ham, cheese, fruit, pastries and more - everything you could wish for in an Italian breakfast to gear you up for a day in the mountains. The cloud was beginning to burn off, muscles were being stretched, and ski jackets were zipped up. The group were well and truly in the holiday spirit.

The later arriving group from the day before met at the ski rental shop across the road to pick up their skis, boots, helmets and poles and were soon on their way to the first lift of the day. At 10AM, we all gathered at the bottom of the Serodine lift, which was the natural meeting point for all ski schools and groups and met with our ski instructor guides for the next 2 hours. This was a great opportunity for those beginner skiers to build their confidence and for the more intermediate and advanced skiers to start exploring the resort whilst dusting off any cobwebs!

By this point, the blue skies were providing the perfect mountain backdrop as those first couple of hours flew by. It was a great introduction to Passo Tonale and something GB Ski Tours has done for the last couple of years to make sure everyone has the best possible start to their two days skiing.

Lunch was soon upon us, and again we met down at the natural meeting point of the Serodine restaurant, where we sat indoors and began the cheese, ham, pizza and pasta feast! It gave everyone a chance to share their feedback from the first few hours, and with the sun shining and plenty of skiing to be done, it was not long until everyone was itching to get back out.

In the afternoon, the 3000m glacier was calling out for a few of the more daring members of the group, whilst others went to explore the very far right of the resort. Everyone made the most of the fantastic weather to complete a superb Saturday of skiing. All that was left to do was to enjoy a well-earned Bombardino at the bottom of the slope to toast a great first day.

After making the way back to the hotel and dropping the skis in the large hotel ski deposit, everyone was ready to dig into the restaurant dinner, which once again did not disappoint. All of the calories that were burned off that day were quickly put back on! Bedtime was certainly calling, and so was day 2....
