Bringing Teachers Together to Talk School Ski Trips at Snozone Milton Keynes
By Luke Pierce
Organising a school ski trip takes time, energy and a willingness to take on responsibility beyond the classroom. So, on Monday 12 October, we invited teachers and ski trip party leaders to Snozone Milton Keynes for some time on the snow themselves.
Our GB Ski Tours event offered an hour of free skiing, with equipment and helmets provided, alongside buffet food, drinks and the opportunity to meet our regional ski consultants and Snozone’s schools team.
The idea was simple: bring people together, give teachers a chance to ski and make space for proper conversations about planning school ski trips.
A chance to meet the people behind the emails
Teachers receive plenty of emails, brochures and calls from ski companies. But choosing who to trust with your school ski trip takes more than reading a proposal.
Meeting face to face gives ski trip party leaders the opportunity to ask questions, explain what matters to their school and get to know the people who would be supporting them. It also gives us the chance to listen.
Every school has different priorities. For some, it is keeping the trip affordable for families. For others, it is finding the right accommodation, supporting first-time skiers or making the organisation more manageable for staff. Those details deserve a conversation.
Getting ready before the mountains
Snozone Milton Keynes offers indoor real-snow skiing and snowboarding, as well as school lessons and activities designed to help students build confidence before travelling to the mountains.
The event also gave teachers the opportunity to meet Snozone’s schools team and discuss how indoor skiing could fit into preparations for a school ski trip.
For pupils who have never skied, getting familiar with the equipment and experiencing snow before departure can help make the prospect of their first mountain trip feel less daunting. For party leaders, it is another practical option to consider when planning their group’s preparation.
And for the teachers joining us, the evening offered something straightforward: a chance to put their own skis on and enjoy a break from the planning.
Supporting the people who make school skiing happen
At GB Ski Tours, we know how much work goes into getting a school group to the mountains. Behind every school ski trip is a teacher answering parents’ questions, coordinating colleagues and working through the details.
Our Snozone Milton Keynes event was a chance to recognise that commitment and spend time with the people who make these experiences possible.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the Snozone Milton Keynes team for working with us on the event.
